In the Nielsen Lab, we are interested in answering questions about the organization of the brain and how neurological and psychiatric conditions disrupt its organization. To answer these questions, we use a variety of analytical techniques to extract quantitative information from MRI scans. We currently have projects that investigate how the brain is affected in individuals with autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a variety of neurological conditions. Our hope is that the information we learn as scientists will inform and improve the way clinicians diagnose and treat their patients.
